The Conventional Zone Module (Model CZM-4) is used with the MXL system to provide four (4) Class A [Style D] or Class B [Style B] conventional initiating-device circuits. Each circuit can monitor up to 30 Siemens Fire Safety two-wire photoelectric or ionization smoke detectors, as well as check an unlimited amount of normally open (N.O.) contact devices.

Projected beam smoke detectors may also be used. The Model CZM-4 circuits will support the use of detector relay bases, audible bases and remote-indicator lamps. Activation of any device on a circuit will initiate a zone alarm condition resulting in the operation of programmed functions.

Any circuit in the alarm or trouble condition will be identified by a user specified 32-character alphanumeric message displayed on the MXL’s liquid-crystal display (LCD) annunciator.

Each circuit of Model CZM-4 are designed to function in a local ‘degrade’ mode during failure of the MXL system’s main processor, or the loss of the system communication network. While in the ‘degrade’ mode, Model CZM-4 still has capability of reporting alarm and trouble events, as well as activating local outputs.

Any or all of the Model CZM-4 circuits can be programmed to operate with the ‘alarm verification’ feature, which allows the automatic verification of alarm conditions caused by smoke detectors to take place ─ thus, preventing nuisance alarm events to trigger without cause.

Model CZM-4 plugs into one (1) full slot in the Model MOM-2 or Model MOM-4 expansion card cage. Up to two (2) Model CZM-4 modules may be plugged into each Model MOM-4 card cage.
